NORTH Wiltshire District Council has promised work on Malmesbury's new state of the art swimming pool will start soon.
Building contractor, North Midlands Construction, has marked out the site of the £2,359,670 project and erected mobile units for equipment storage and a rest room.
A spokesman for the district council said the old outdoor swimming pool will open next season as usual and shut in September. But the council has promised the new pool will be ready to open the following month.
The new pool will adjoin The Activity Zone leisure centre, in Bremilham Road, and will replace the 41-year-old outdoor pool in Park Road.
It will be 25m long, 8.5m wide and divided into four lanes, with an advanced moveable floor to vary the pool depths, allowing toddlers to use the pool as well as adults.
