A SWINDON bar is attempting to satisfy the appetite for nostalgia among its customers by bringing in a Scalextric track.
Ian Davidson, manager of Casbah, in John Street, reckons childhood nostalgia from the 1970s and 80s is in.
And he expects 20 and 30-somethings to come flocking to play on his Scalextric track on Sunday.
"We are bringing back things that were good from the past," he said.
Ian, 35, opened the pub just two weeks ago.
He has already set aside Friday nights for Old Skool Disco parties, and expects the legendary Scalextric track to be a big draw on Sundays.
Ian, who will be spinning the discs as DJ Ayrton Stella, said: "The music will be predominantly cheesy tracks and it will be one big party all evening. We will play a load of 80s music, with tracks from the 70s and 90s too.
"Everyone used to enjoy playing with scalextric tracks so we wanted to bring it back.
"It's the first time a track has been set up in a pub and people will be able to challenge me to races to win drinks. It's free entry, free races, and a load of fun."
The pub is the first bar in Swindon to be owned by two women, Laura Cook, 28, and Michelle Sherwood, 29. Ian says they are aiming to create a friendly environment where people will feel relaxed and at home.
"Sometimes these pubs that are run by big companies can be a bit unfriendly," he said. "We are going to give Casbah a real personal touch and get to know our locals as they get to know us.
"Our entertainment will also be aimed at women. It will be a place where a woman won't feel threatened if she is waiting for friends or having a drink on her own."
Ian wants to extend the Skool disco nights into regular Friday evening reunions.
He said: "It would be great if we could get people together who haven't seen each other for ages, like the Friends Reunited idea.
"We will probably publish dates a month in advance of each Friday party to let people know which school and year will be most featured at the disco.
"We would also love to hear from groups of people planning their own school reunions as we have a great venue."
At the moment Casbah operates under pub licensing laws but the management is applying for an extension to the opening hours.
