KEY Day Nursery in Calne is expanding to include a new baby unit, which will open in January.
The nursery in Lickhill Road opened in 1991 and provides day care for up to 50 youngsters aged from 18 months to five.
In November builders will start work on a new purpose-built pre-school in the grounds of Fynanmore School, which will free up enough space for a baby unit in Lickhill Road.
Key Day Nurseries owner Gillian Key, said: "It's been my aim to get a baby unit established in Calne for nine months but I've had to overcome a lot of hurdles to get to this stage.
"It's a big step but hopefully this is going to be of benefit to the whole community.
"We're all very excited about the project, were really pleased to be associated with Fynamore School and we're proud to be given the responsibility of starting up a nursery there."
Key Day Nurseries has run a baby unit in Chippenham for three years, and hope the Calne unit will be just as successful. It will have room for 15 babies and will provide special toys, thick carpets and free nappies.
Parents interested in the baby unit are invited to visit the nursery in Chippenham to get an idea of the service that will be provided in Calne. Telephone (01249) 815307 for more details.
