AN elderly charity shop worker has had her purse stolen while she was serving customers.
Police have not named the 77-year-old volunteer worker in the Cancer Research UK shop in Kingsbury Street whose purse contained more than £80 and two keys.
She was working in the Kingsbury Street shop on Monday when two men walked in at about 12.20pm.
While the assistant was distracted her grey leather purse was stolen from behind the counter.
One of the men had a speech impediment. He was about 6ft, very gaunt and pale with short dark hair and was wearing a light coloured T-shirt and jeans.
The second man was described as about 5ft 8ins, in his mid-20s with mid-brown short hair and wearing a light coloured T-shirt with jeans.
WPC Emma Brown took the theft victim around the town centre in the hope that she might recognise the two men but without success.
Anyone who either saw two men fitting the description in Kingsbury Street or in any shop in the town is asked to contact WPC Brown at Marlborough police station on (01672) 512311.
