A presentation was made to the RUH in Bath in memory of a Westbury 19-year-old. Family and friends raised more than £1,500 after Richard Mills, a trainee mechanic, died on July 2.
Staff on the Waterhouse ward at the RUH looked after him and the money was used to buy the hospital a wheelchair, television and video.
Richard's mum Jayne Abbott said: "It was to say thanks to the staff, who were brilliant with Richard."
In September 2001, he was on holiday with his father, Ron Mills, near Madeira, when he fell from his hotel room, suffering internal injuries.
He stayed in Madeira for three months before he was flown home to the RUH where he underwent a series of operations.
He died in Middlesex Hospital after a nine-hour operation he was expected to survive.
Hundreds of well-wishers attended the funeral at All Saints Church in Westbury.
Mrs Abbott said: "Special thanks go to The Castle pub who donated £200 and the Ludlow Arms who are holding an annual pool competition in his name.
Richard was a pupil at Matravers School and they will present a cup for art and drama in his memory."
