ACCORDING to the paper Wiltshire County Council sent out, it is now trying to encourage the public to get on their bike or use public transport. It has allocated £200,000 to build cycle routes joining all the towns of Bradford, Melksham, Trowbridge, Westbury and Warminster.

Before it does that it should repair the roads it already has, especially the sides of the roads where cyclists ride most with all the potholes and badly repaired holes.

It says you should be wearing a hard hat; I need one on my backside as well.

It is also talking of cutting the speed limits in built up areas.

What it should be doing is enforcing the speed limits it has with heavier fines for the first offence, then to lose their licence for a week.

As for the drink driver, if caught over the limit they should lose their licence straight away until their court case I think that's what they do in America.

Cutting the speed limit too much only increases the pollution.

As for public transport and getting people to use it more, until they make it cheaper and even free in the cities and more frequent, the public won't leave their cars at home.
