A SINCERE thank you to everyone who contributed to the resounding success of the eighth Eddie Cochran Rock 'n' Roll Festival held in Chippenham last weekend.
Visitors from many parts of Britain, Europe and USA received a really warm welcome from local residents, hotels and B and Bs, pubs, restaurants and shops.
Generous support by North Wiltshire District Council ensured that this year's festival was the best ever with a record number of fans thrilling to the great performances of legendary stars Rocky Burnette, Scotty Moore, Jet Harris, Big Bopper junior, Darrel Higham and Bobby Cochran and supporting bands.
Glorious sunshine throughout the weekend greeted the cavalcade of American and British classic cars and bikes that 'cruised' the town, followed by the Sunday Thanksgiving Service led by Witness and the tribute at the Cherished Memories plaque on Rowden Hill.
The festival is now formally established as Britain's top rock 'n' roll weekend and plans are already underway for the celebration in 2003.
If anyone would like to be involved in next year's event please contact (01249) 656350.

Festival director,
JOHN KNIGHT,
Festival organiser.
