IMPROVED lighting is to be installed in a Trowbridge street in the hope it will deter vandals.
Police and town councillors called for action to be taken in Innox Road and street lighting to be improved and upgraded, after a spate of car crime and vandalism.
The road is used as a cut through by people returning home to the town's western estates after a night out.
Many cars have had windows smashed and wing mirrors and aerials snapped off.
Wiltshire County Council has told Cllr Osborn it agrees the lighting needs replacing but has said funding is extremely limited and it may not happen right away.
He has been told a new system of lighting should be installed in Innox Road either at the end of this financial year or the beginning of next.
Cllr Osborn said: "This has been a particular crime and disorder problem in my ward and is most welcome news."
Cllr Graham Hedley has received complaints about the area.
He said: "This is something which has come up year after year. It is good news that something is finally happening."
