RESIDENTS calling for a safer crossing at Seymour in Trowbridge will find out on Wednesday if the site will be considered for funding next year.
A petition signed by 358 people has been presented to Wiltshire County Council and calls for traffic lights to be installed instead of the zebra crossing on Seymour Road, near Jenkins Street.
Residents say they fear for the safety of pedestrians crossing the busy road as some drivers are failing to stop for them.
Councillors will be told on Wednesday all monies in this year's budget have been allocated but the scheme could be added to the list for consideration next year.
The county council's regulatory committee considers requests for crossings annually, through the annual pedestrian safety report.
The estimated cost of replacing the puffin crossing is £35,000.
The zebra crossing was installed in 2000 after a petition appealing for somewhere safe to cross.
There have been no recorded injury accidents at the site since the zebra crossing was installed two and a half years ago.
