FUNDRAISING pupils who collected £600 for charity presented a cheque to the Princess Royal when she officially opened the new Wootton Bassett School.
The children raised the money for Save the Children, a charity of which the Princess is President.
They also collected coins from EU countries which have now adopted the Euro. These will be exchanged for cash and also donated to the charity.
Teacher Jackie Smart, who started the fundraising campaign, said: "This was an effort by the whole year group.
"The pupils raised this amount through their own planning and running of events."
A sports competition between staff and pupils was the most popular of the fundraising events, which also included a cake sale.
Save the Children works in over 70 countries, and is currently raising awareness of a UN campaign to beat poverty.
