Wootton Bassett defeated Oakmedians 19-12 in their latest Dorset & Wilts Second Team Merit League match.
Both teams exchanged attacks for the first 25 minutes of the game, neither side coming away with points.
Eventually, Bassett full-back Gareth Williams chased and secured his own clearance kick just in the Oakmedians half.
He popped to rampaging no 8 Frankie Franklin, who charged through to score under the posts, Williams adding the easy conversion.
Williams' boot extended Bassett's lead with a penalty just before the interval.
With the home side trailing 10-0 at the interval, they came out with more determination and scored a quick unconverted try, to narrow the margin.
But Bassett's defence held firm and the trusty boot of Williams edged the visitors further ahead with two more penalties.
Determined runs from the Oaks backs were rewarded with their centre crossing the line for a converted score.
But with the game in its dying minutes, Bassett's veteran fly-half Bob Walbyoff popped up at the back of a scrum to slot a 30-yard drop-goal to secure the win.
