SWINDON College's experienced forwards proved far too strong for the Minety second string's makeshift pack as the Old Boys romped into the second round of the Dorset & Wilts 2nd XV Cup with a 74-12 win.
Still without an established front row, Minety were delighted to welcome talented young prop Richard Trevascus back into the team.
Playing his first game for months, he lacked match fitness but promises to make a big impact.
Elsewhere, Minety were forced to improvise by drafting players from other positions.
However, they established an early lead when winger Rob Brewster ran in a try down the right touchline.
Five minutes later, Minety went the other way and fed the ball to winger Ollie Bowne on the left side.
Storming down the touchline, he
beat four men before cutting in to touch down between the posts. Will Price kicked the goal and the visitors held a 12-point lead.
However, once College's excellent pack began to fire they established control.
The Old Boys steadily overhauled Minety and then, when the visitors' heads began to drop in the final quarter of an hour, piled on the points.
Minety captain Mike Strong said: "We had a good set of backs but couldn't provide them with any ball to run with.''
College scorers were Tony Brant (2), John Wall (2), Darren JOhnston (2), Gareth Cope, John Roberst, Dave Brock, D Walters and Bruce Veal, Roberts adding a penalty and eight conversions.
