AROUND £800 was raised for charity as Wroughton moved to the sounds of the Wiltshire Constabulary Band and Janice Thompson Concert Choir. More than 200 people packed the Ellendune Hall for the extravaganza, the proceeds of which will be split between the Ellendune Hall Trust and Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

BBC Wiltshire Sound's Sue Davies compered the evening, which featured music from the opera Orpheus in the Underworld, Cats and Oklahoma! under the direction of Malcolm Webb.

A Last Night of the Proms finale ensured the show finished with a bang.

For former policeman and Ellendune Hall manager Bob Collins, the evening was a family affair.

Son Robert was the principal cornet player in the concert and his wife, Ros, played the clarinet.

Mr Collins' daughter Ann-Marie Webb played the flute, while her husband, Malcolm, directed the music.

"The music went down a storm and we managed to raise a decent amount for two very good causes," said Mr Collins.
