WOOTTON Bassett's Stuart Sutton and Graham Peer blitzed the opposition in the latest round of the pairs section of the Club Anglers League.
Stuart, fishing at Anchor, drew on the bream, loose feeding casters and fishing with a waggler and double caster as the bait.
He caught 12 large bream for a total of 55lb 6oz, and lost four more trying to hurry them in to avoid the heavy boat traffic.
His partner Graham won the Kelmscott section. Fishing on the point at Grange Bend, he fed caster and hemp and fished red maggots on the hook to catch four large chub and a few bits for 18-5-5. This gave the pair a maximum total of 46 points.
In second place fishing for Coleview Rover, on 41 points were Bob Smith (4-14-0 of bits) and Joe Thomson with 4-13-0. Third spot was filled by Richard Jenkins (Haydon Street). Fishing at Anchor he caught chub for a bag of 2-4-0. With his partner Dave Gleed (4-6-0) they accumulated 39 points to give them third payout in the pairs.

LOCAL RESULTS
The sum of £170 was raised for Prospect after Haydon St AS held their B&N Oil charity teams of four match on their Dodford Farm stretch of the Bristol Avon on Sunday.
It was an encouraging match with all weights being made up of roach and dace taken on the pole, hemp and caster hook bait. Top weight was Mark Ponting with 9lb 14oz, followed by Mick Rozier 7-0-0, John Ford 6-3-0. Mick Cottle was fourth with 6-1-0.
The teams of four event was won by Fordy's Raiders with 16-1-0, followed closely by Kempsford All Stars (15-7-0).
Martin Preston with his partner Paul Harman took first and second places respectively, and easily won the Golden Carp AA's Pairs Cup, held on the Upper Thames.
Martin took 14lb 14oz of chub and just beat his partner Paul by a pound. He included a fine 4-12-0 chub in his catch and the pair totalled 28-12-0, way ahead of second-placed John Hale and Brian Lewington's 4-12-0.
The Peatmoor intermediate team of Gareth Jackson, Dale Lewington, Martyn Howard and Jeb Martin put in an exceptional performance to win the NJAA Challenge match on the Coventry Canal at Nuneaton. They had two section winners and two section seconds.
Gareth Jackson was the individual winner with 3-9-5, Dale Lewington was fifth individual with 2-7-0 and Jeb Martin sixth individual with 2-1-0.
The juniors could not repeat this success, finishing 10th of the 13 teams that entered.
Fishing was very patchy for the Highworth AC's Presidents Cup at Bloomers section of the River Thames. Kev Smith included a 2-4-0 perch in his winning 4-15-0 bag. Second was Mick Mills 4-5-0 and the third place was Nigel Holder 2-11-0.
Coleview-Rover Roach Cup fished at Stanton Lake: 1. Gary Davis 6lb; 2. Joe Thomson 5-4-0; 3. Bob Smith 4-14-0.
The Ivy House Lakes Ladies fished on the Warwickshire Avon at Evesham in the Ladies Avon Championships and came away with some good results. In a very low weight match Val Hilliers (IHLL) needed only 1-7-0 to take second, using firstly a pole and then a straight ledger to take a catch of bits. Jo Warner was fourth individual and just missed out to join Val in the Wychavon Championships an invitation match on August Bank Holiday in 2003.
Twelve anglers fished the Wednesday Isis AC Open which was won by Vic Abbott (peg 127) with a weight of 5lb 9oz, which included a small tench and roach. Peter Gilbert was second (118) 5-2-0 and Richard Clarke and Dave Pearce both had 3-6-0.
In the latest Wednesday Open at Sutton Benger, Nigel Franks easily won with his weight of 43-11-0, a bream and tench catch from peg 130 using a pole and caster, Brian Bathe on 119 took two bream for 12-6-0 and was followed by Keith Daniels 10-13-0 from peg 127.
In the Wednesday Veterans match, this time held at Bourton-on-the-Water, Ricky Spiteri had the best of some close weights with a winning 49lb. Second was Dereck Hillier 46-8-0 and third Graham Rose 45-8-0.
Weights were poor on the River Windrush at Burford where Bob Fletcher only needed 2-8-0 to win the Cloverleaf match. Second was Dale Byrne 1-2-0 and third Fred Brown 12oz.
The BCA match was switched to Ivy House which suited Pete Sole, who won with 33lb 4oz and was followed by Lou Soane 25lb 12oz, Paul Wallis 18lb and Paul Northcott 15lb.
