THE Chippenham Town Ladies club were celebrating at the weekend after two of their teams went through to their respective cup finals.

After three weeks without a game, Chippenham travelled to Keynsham for their league cup semi final.

The Chippenham squad was reduced by illness and also having to play without Seb Everson, who is out for the remainder of the season after an operation on her knee.

Chippenham attacked well right from the start, winning a corner within the first minute. Three minutes later, they won a second corner which fell to Jo Ashurst whose shot from 20 yards out went in off the post.

Four minutes later Tash Perry made it 2-0 when she collected the ball from a throw-in and shot home.

After the break, the game settled until the 64th minute. Jude Gingell played a ball down the left to Pomfret who scored.

Five minutes later Pomfret scored her second. Ashurst's shot was cleared but the ball fell to Pomfret who headed it down to slot home.

Chippenham's final goal came on 71 minutes, Charlotte Johnson netting after a long run down the right.

Keynsham continued to try and push forward and were eventually rewarded when their substitute Wendy Sprigg opened their scoring in the 87th minute.

Chippenham will meet either Clevedon A or Clevedon B in the final.

Four of Chippenham's senior players, Becky Powell, Jess Pomfret, Emily Snook and Harriet Titcombe have been included in the Wiltshire Under 18s squad to play against Gloucestershire tomorrow night.

n THE Under 14s secured their place in their respective cup final with a keenly contested 3-2 win over Frome.

Hannah Cox scrambled the ball into the Frome net for Chippenham's opening goal. Fifteen minutes later, Frome hit back with the equaliser.

Just before half-time, Sarah Walsh made it 2-1 to the visitors.

Frome shifted up a gear after the half-time break, and they were rewarded with a goal from Leanne Burge to give them the lead for the first time in the game.

Walsh scored her second and Chippenham's third to make it 3-2 with just five minutes to go.
