STAFF at a Swindon eaterie will give up food, shave their heads and wash cars to raise money for Comic Relief.

The Running Horse Beefeater in Wootton Bassett Road is participating in the company's drive to raise £200,000 for Red Nose Day on Friday, March 13.

Barmaid Tina Hendry is undertaking a 24-hour fast while continuing to serve customers, while bar staff Tanya Goodale and James Livingstone, together with chef, Peter Cork, will be shaving their heads for the good cause.

Tanya, 20, of Wootton Bassett Road, is co-ordinating the events.

She said: "I was a bit dubious about shaving my head for charity, but I hope to put the rest of my male colleagues to shame by doing it.

"We're really enjoying supporting Red Nose Day.

"With the help of our guests, in addition to raising money for Comic Relief we are planning to have some fun as well."

And on Saturday, staff will be offering to wash diners' cars from 2pm in return for a donation to the charity.

The restaurant will also be holding a raffle, with prizes donated by local companies. Diners will also be able to sample the special Comic Relief menu and wine.

Beefeater will be donating 25p from each starter and dessert, 50p from every main course and 10 per cent from each bottle of wine to the appeal.
