TWO penalties from former Swindon Town man Frazer McHugh cost Chippenham a place in the Dr Martens Cup final last night.

The Bluebirds slipped to a disappointing 2-1 semi-final defeat at Halesowen, with both of the Midlanders' goals coming from the spot.

A turgid encounter came to life on 28 minutes when Charlie Griffin fired Town ahead with his fourth goal of the competition.

But the hosts hit back five minutes later when new signing Scott Walker conceded a penalty and McHugh kept his cool from 12 yards.

Chippenham boss Tommy Saunders switched from the recently favoured 3-5-2 to his trusted 4-4-2 formation after the break, but it did little to lift a very flat Town display.

Ten minutes after the break Tom Gould handled in the box and McHugh stepped up to claim his second and condemn the Bluebirds to a deserved defeat.

Premier Division strugglers Halesowen will now go on to meet Crawley in a two-legged final.
