SO a rise of 15 per cent on council tax is deemed necessary to improve the amenities in Swindon.
How does this council work out their housekeeping? Recently (this week) I visited the public toilets in Canal Walk. What a pigsty, I would be ashamed to take any visitors in there, the disabled toilet pan (of which there is only one) was filthy!
Now people with disabilities have a key (radar, supplied by Age Concern) so it is not used by the general public.
The other toilets were in the same condition, including the floors. There is an office for an attendant, but there was no-one there when I returned several times to make a complaint.
Surely the council did not offer this convenience to the Duke of Edinburgh when he visited on Friday. (I don't know that the Gents is any different).
People were coming out of the place grumbling and I feel my wrath will not abate until I have penned this letter.
When the elections take place, beware all councillors I for one will vote for none that accept a 43 per cent increase and let the good people of Swindon wallow in the filth they have allowed to build up.
