No double for Five Rivers
SALISBURY City boss Nick Holmes, himself a keen squash player, watched his daughter Kim fight valiantly at number three for Southampton University in their match against Salis-bury's Five Rivers team.
Although losing in straight games to Pete Brown, she certainly made him work hard for his victory.
Another female team member, Pat Reichelt, a German student from Hamburg, played with determined aggression against Tony Bronsdon before losing three close games.
Richard Ramsay was a surprise loser for Five Rivers, but they still ended up 4-1 winners to maintain their top of the table position.
However, Five Rivers came unstuck in their hopes of landing a league and cup double when they made the return visit to Southampton.
The university side had been significantly strength Brown and Tony Bronsdon got the Salisbury team off to a 2-0 lead, Andy Ling, Richard Ramsay and Tim Eagles lost 3-1, 3-2 and 3-1 respectively.
Friday night sees the Five Rivers team in action at home to Portsmouth Royal Navy in a match which could prove vital in their promotion challenge.
The must-win clash gets underway at 7pm and spectators are welcome at the leisure centre.
