Salisbury's Stuart Waite won the opening round of the Forest Edge Kart Club 250cc Gearbox Championship. In an exciting, close race, staged at Christchurch, Stuart beat last season's champion into second place.

Daryl opens campaign in winning mood

ANY doubts about Durr-ington teenager Daryl Bolter's upgrade to the expert class for this year's British Motorcycle Enduro Championship were quickly silenced at the weekend's opening meeting of the season.

The youngster, who last year won the Breckland event in Norfolk as a clubman, won both days of the expert class.

Daryl was soon on the pace, setting some blistering quick stage times.

New rule changes mean that mechanics can now work on the bike at the service points - like car rallying - so overnight adjustments were carried out to make his high-revving 125 Husqvarna machine even more competitive.

As well as taking the maximum 40 championship points (20 per day), the team of Daryl, Euan McConnell and Chris Hockey, also won the Best Manufacturers award.
