WOMEN'S FOOTBALL: JESS Pomfret scored twice as injury-hit Chippenham Ladies sealed their place in the final of the League Cup with victory at Keynsham.
The Bluebirds squad was hard hit by illness and the withdrawal of top scorer Seb Everson, who will miss the rest of the season due to her long-awaited knee operation and they made the trip with only 12 players.
But they still proved too strong for the home team and took the lead with four minutes gone, Jo Ashurst's unstoppable drive from 20 yards flying into the net via a post.
Tash Perry scored the second before the break after collecting the ball from a throw-in, while Lia Painter saw a shot punched onto the bar by the home goalkeeper late in the first half.
Chippenham extended their lead on 64 minutes when Pomfret followed up to score after her initial effort had been saved by the Keynsham goalkeeper.
Pomfret then added her second, before Charlotte Johnson netted the visitors' fifth in the 71st minute.
Wendy Sprigg hit a late consolation for Keynsham.
