YOUTH crime, bobbies on the beat and community policing are areas that new Malmesbury sergeant Gavin Williams will be looking to tackle as he starts his new job.
The 32-year-old lives in the area and replaces Kier Pritchard, who moved to Swindon Police two weeks ago, and said he was looking forward to the challenge.
"I have an idea what Malmesbury is like before coming here which helps. There are elements of youngsters in Malmesbury that are a problem and I want to pick up from the good work that Kier has done, such as the anti-social behaviour orders," he said.
Sgt Williams started his career working for a response team in Swindon and then worked at Westlea and Wootton Bassett.
He said: "We want to work closely with the community and listen to what they have to say. Anybody can contact us in confidence and they can give information without leaving their name.
"I am very pleased with the officers I have.
"I am looking forward to working with them to tackle the problems ahead."
