IT is surprising how short memories are in politics. Most people will have now forgotten that two Tory councillors from Highworth where absent from the budget meeting last year (February 21, 2002). The reason given was that they needed a holiday.

This year is a repeat of what appears to be a ploy by the Conservatives to put all the hard decisions on the backs of the Labour party.

Not putting out their own budget until the day of the meeting and then abstaining is all part of the games they play at our expense. It is easy to blame people who make decisions but what about the people who run away from decisions?

I ask the voters in May to remember this when they go to the polls.
