WILTSHIRE County Council posted a list of nearly 1,000 key documents and publications on its Internet site on Monday.
People have the right to see documents held by public organisations under The Freedom of Information Act 2000. The act requires the council to draw up a publication scheme that has been approved by the Government-appointed information commissioner.
The site currently lists 870 documents covering all the services provided by the council and it will eventually list most documents published by the authority.
People can demand copies of any of the listed documents. Wiltshire County Council corporate standards officer Nina Wilton, said: "The council's aim is to be as open and transparent as possible. It therefore intends to publish an increasing amount of information by means of the publication scheme".
The publication scheme is available on-line at www.Wiltshire.gov.uk.
