OSCAR the runaway cat has become a celebrity in Wootton Bassett after he was given a welcome usually reserved for royalty.
The four-year-old ginger tom moved to the town with owner Sara Green from Torquay in January. But he disappeared and Miss Green was worried he was trying to make it back to Devon.
She rang BBC Radio Wiltshire, which put out an appeal for sightings.
Oscar was eventually returned to his owner, but Mayor Pete Roberts decided to give the cat a proper introduction to the town and present him with a certificate of welcome.
Oscar was microchipped with his owner's details by vet Rupert Hibberd of the Drove Road Veterinary Hospital.
Miss Green said everyone seems to know Oscar now. She said: "I rang the vet and when I said his name the receptionist said, 'that's not the Oscar is it?'"
