A BIBLICAL play performed in Devizes on Shrove Tuesday was enjoyed by more than 200 people.
The play, called God The Father, was staged by the Devizes partnership of churches at Sheep Street Baptist Church.
Due to limited space at the church two performances were held in the evening and director Nina Woolrych was delighted at the number of people who attended.
Mrs Woolrych, the artistic director of the Wharf Theatre, produced the enormously popular Passion Play last year that drew an audience of several hundred to the centre of town.
She said: "We had about 150 people for the first showing on Tuesday and around 100 for the second. The play was very well received by the audiences, everybody loved it."
The play was written by former teacher Peter England and covers the Creation and Noah's Flood.
Children as well as adults from four churches in the town played the parts. The play was accompanied by modern church music.
Members of the churches cooked pancakes during the day and these were served after the performance.
There was no admission charge but a collection was made for Tear Fund which supports flood and famine relief.
