NOMINATIONS for unsung heroes and heroines in the community particularly young people are wanted for the town's civic awards.
Devizes Town Council gives the awards to people who give up their time voluntarily to help other people and improve the environment.
The awards have been given out each year and the recipients are chosen by an independent panel.
Simon Fisher, commercial manager at Devizes Town Council, said: "We would like lots of nominations of people and from different age groups.
"The awards have been running since 1998 and they have been successful. We would like more nominations of young people.
"There are a lot of youngsters who help other young people and adults and it would be nice for them to receive a civic award."
There are two categories for the civic awards community service and environmental work.
The community service award is for people or organisations who have helped to improve the quality of life for people in Devizes.
The environmental award is given to people involved in projects within the last year such as refurbishing buildings, improving open spaces or creating natural habitats for wildlife. The winner will receive a plaque that can be displayed at the project site.
Nomination forms are available from the town hall, the Gazette and Herald office in the Market Place and some retail outlets. The closing date for nominations is March 17 and the awards will be presented in April.
