PLANS to build flats on the site of a former residential home in Salisbury Road, Marlborough, have again flown into flak.
There was enormous opposition when Malmesbury-based Standard Housing originally proposed 15 flats on the site of a property called Sempringham. Kennet District Council rejected a reduced scheme for 13 flats last year.
But the company's latest plans, for 12 flats, have led to nine letters of objection from neighbouring residents in Salisbury Road and in George Lane being sent to the town council.
About a dozen of the objectors attended a meeting of the town council on Monday and were clearly delighted when it said it had no reason to change its previous objections.
Coun Stewart Dobson said he noted with concern that Wiltshire County Council was not objecting to the access on to Salisbury Road if it was widened and given a Tarmac surface.
The ownership of the access lane was disputed, said Coun Dobson, and it was unlikely that the county council's objectives could be achieved.
Coun Maurice Cooper said the access on to the busy lower part of Salisbury Road was a prime concern.
"The volume of traffic on that particular piece of road is horrendous afternoons and mornings," he said.
Coun Bryan Castle said that although the developers had reduced the size of the scheme be believed it was still an over development.
"It is completely out of kilter with the site," he said.
