RESIDENTS living in sheltered accommodation were treated to a new kitchen after a changing rooms-style makeover.

The communal kitchen at the Westminster Road flats was revamped by the Guinness Trust the housing association in charge of the scheme.

The kitchen is now kitted out in a modern style with a grey and steel finish.

Gail Saunders, 61, has been living at the scheme for nearly two years.

She said: "We use the kitchen quite a lot. We have tea every afternoon and we come down for a bacon butty or something. But the old kitchen was not very nice at all. It was beginning to fall apart. It was dark and not very inspiring.

"It is lovely now, nice and bright. There's much more room and a pleasant place to be in."
