The National Trails Office has put together a series of events that take place on the Ridgeway and Thames Path national Trails. The aim is to promote access to the countryside for recreation and exercise.
The events, ranging from a simple walk to an introduction to navigation techniques, are all guided by volunteers.
National Trails Officer, Jos Joplin, explained: "You could go for an evening stroll along the Thames, a morning bike ride or an all day hike with a pub lunch. By joining the event you have the chance to be shown the countryside on your doorstep."
The events programme has been running for a number of years now, and is always getting better. It is supported through the landfill tax scheme and the Countryside Agency and Highways Authorities.
