I, like many others, read with concern the article regarding the closure of the car park at Fynamore School, in Calne.
I fully appreciate the council wanting to introduce a green plan enabling pupils to walk to school and leave the cars behind but has it really considered everyone's requirements?
Circumstances have changed my daughter's life enormously this last year or so after her son started at the school.
She has become a single parent with her son aged six and an 18-month-old daughter and has been forced to go out to work to provide for her children.
She was lucky enough to have been reinstated in the job she had before she left to have her children.
Unfortunately, it is six miles away so she has to leave with the children in the car from her home in Calne, drop her son off at Fynamore School, drive to a nursery school to drop the little girl off then go on to work herself.
She reverses the route on the return journey and there is no way that she could walk, or even drop the car back home in Calne first, before picking them up.
With the hours lost doing this she couldn't afford to make the job pay and, as she is now the breadwinner, it is essential.
One might say why not get a job closer?
But as anyone knows these days if you can come out of a job with a good pension you would be lucky.
My daughter was lucky to have been in a Government job so it makes sense to continue in the same job.
There is also a point to make if the car park closes.
Human nature being what it is people desperate for parking spaces will choose any street nearby and leaving their cars outside other people's houses will cause huge congestion.
Council officials should think very carefully and spare a thought for everyone's needs.
