JAZZ lover Frances Maynard has a chance to make her own music after winning the Evening Advertiser's saxophone competition.
Frances, 59, pictured here with jazz promoter Ray Butt, won a £500 Conrad series II alto saxophone after entering the competition, which was run jointly with Fretless and Friends, the founders of Swindon Jazz Festival.
"I was gobsmacked to discover I had won," said the mother-of-three from Nine Elms, Swindon.
"I haven't had a chance to play it yet, but I'm thinking about having lessons. I don't play any instruments but I have always loved jazz, especially trad jazz."
Readers were asked who invented the saxophone, the correct answer being Adolphe Sax.
