WE should not be surprised at the regular increases in our council tax, as it is a reflection of our inefficient and wasteful society.

Good housekeeping skills and prudence are clearly something sadly lacking in our society, resulting in awful wastefulness.

Wherever we look we see it: litter in our streets and along the hedgerows and all manner of rubbish which we create and have to bear the cost of clearing up.

Thoughtfulness and care of our environment are essential for the future if there is to be one. Sometimes I almost feel sorry for councillors who have to bear the responsibility, but alas, they are guided by highly paid officers and consultants who perhaps are not as smart as they might be.
