MINETY are now just one game away from completing a clean sweep in Dorset and Wilts Two North after a hat-trick of tries from winger Ian Neal helped them to victory over struggling Pewsey Vale.

Number eight James Smith got the hosts off to a flying start when he broke from the base of a five-metre scrum to tough down and James Tweedle added the conversion.

Tweedale's kick ahead set up the second try, as centre Will Howse pounced on a Pewsey Vale defensive mistake to score.

Neal then crossed for his first try of the afternoon after linking well with Howse and hooker Dave Peirce drove over for the fourth try of the afternoon before the break.

Pewsey hit back with a successful penalty attempt from 30 metres but it was to prove their only score as Minety scored five more tries, four of them converted by Tweedale.

Gareth Dyer's break and quick recycled ball from the forwards gave Neal the chance to touch down under the posts, before the winger completed his hat-trick after good work from Tweedale and Rodney Park.

A brilliant second try from Howse, who beat a dozen man after running from half way, and another from Park followed as Minety confirmed their superiority.

But Minety saved their best try for last as Tweedale rounded off a fine team move before adding the conversion himself.

Minety, already sure of promotion to Dorset and Wilts Division One, have a friendly at Tetbury on Saturday and face Swindon Supermarine in their final league game of the season a week later.
