WITH reference to the latest news regarding the rise in council taxes, could the powers that be explain why so much, with all the new houses being built in the county?
For example, just along the road from where I live there is a small development of 65 new homes being built. Assuming these are classed as Band D at the year 2002/03 rates this would amount to a rise of £64,025. This is only one of the new estates being built in the county, some with hundreds of new houses. What about the extra income to the councils from these, which must be considerable over the year and future years more to be wasted perhaps.
