THIEVES have raided a motorway petrol garage three times in a fortnight one of them wearing a jacket he had stolen on an earlier visit.

The duo first struck at Leigh Delamere's westbound petrol station on February 18, when they were spotted by a customer loading handfuls of plastic-wrapped fleece jackets into their car, which was parked on the garage forecourt.

A day later, on February 19, the thieves escaped again, after being spotted snatching more jackets.

In their latest raid, on February 24, a customer reported seeing the men one apparently wearing one of the fleece jackets while they carried yet more of them to their car.

So far, the thieves have got away with around £300-worth of the jackets, which come in a variety of colours and cost £14.99 each.

Martin Bird, manager of Leigh Delamere, said: "Obviously we are determined to prevent this from happening a fourth time. We have changed the location of the fleeces to put them in view of our CCTV cameras.

"We are confident they will be caught if they try to strike again."

A Chippenham Police spokesman said investigations were under way.
