CHEFS in Wiltshire are being invited to take part in the county's version of the BBC programme, Ready, Steady, Cook.
The event is being organised by the Wiltshire Food Links Partnership to showcase county food and drink producers.
Chefs will be formed into five teams of three who will be given a selection of Wiltshire produce. They will have four hours to prepare a three-course meal for 12.
It is hoped that among the 50 guests will be representatives of supermarket chains and other retail buyers.
The partnership was set up with the help of a £200,000 grant from the South West of England Regional Development Agency, with support from the county council and district councils.
Co-ordinator Lian Doble, who is based at North Wiltshire District Council, said: "Their creations will be sampled by three judges who will decide who has used the local ingredients to best effect. We hope this challenge will raise the profile of both local produce and the chefs."
The event will be held at Wiltshire College, Trowbridge on June 3. Chefs who would like to take part can ring Miss Doble on (01249) 706530 or email her at ldoble@northwilts.gov.uk
