WITH less than a week to go until finals night, the six contenders in the Trowbridge Employee of the Year competition are studying hard for their head-to-head interview with top broadcaster Roger Cook, live on stage.
With a two-week holiday to the Gambia up for grabs, everything is riding on the performances in the final on Wednesday.
This week the Wiltshire Times spoke to three more of the finalists to find out how they thought they would fare against the tough interviewing technique of Mr Cook.
Finalist Lynne Webb is the district supervisor at Trowbridge Library.
She said: "I am just thinking that the finals are going to happen, and there's nothing I can do about it, so there is no point in getting too nervous."
Customer service is important in her job, and she loves the fact she gets to know all her customers well.
She said: "It is important for us to be friendly, helpful and informative, and that is fairly easy here, since people usually know what they want, and they can usually leave the library with exactly what they wanted.
"I am pleased to have made it this far, not just for me but to promote the library as well."
Jaime Smith, another finalist who will face a grilling from Mr Cook, works on the delicatessen counter at Tesco supermarket in Trowbridge.
She said: "If customers have a problem it is important to listen to what they are saying and make sure you find them an answer.
"I love my job, but we all have our good and bad days. But a lot of the time we have a real laugh with regulars and staff. It is great fun."
One of the runners up, 22-year-old Becky Morrison, from Trowbridge, has now been called up as a finalist, after David Swift resigned from his job and pulled out of the competition.
Miss Morrison is a receptionist at the West Wiltshire Primary Care Trust.
Her work colleagues have described her as the person who puts a smile on everyone's face.
She said: "I am a good listener and give people the assurance they can come back to me if no one else can help."
The finals are on March 12, at the Trowbridge Civic Hall, beginning at 7pm.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the event.
