Highlight of the Wiltshire league programme this weekend is the clash between Premier Division leaders Shrewton United and Aldbourne in the semi-final of the Corsham Print Senior Cup.
Shrewton dropped their first points since November when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Trowbridge Town last weekend, and, on the admission of their manager Stuart Withers, did not look as sharp as their opponents.
Aldbourne on the other hand seem to have recovered from their two-week spell in the doldrums, a double over Cricklade and a narrow defeat at the hands of Stratton Crosslink have brought the confidence surging back to Pete Orsi's side.
Their cup fighting spirit was shown to the full when they were a trifle unlucky to lose 2-0 to Devizes Town in the Senior Cup and a repeat of that sort of form could make it difficult for the league's top scorer Dean Foot to get his name on the scoresheet.
It's also Fountain Trophies Junior Cup semi-final time with Cricklade Town Reserves at home to Dunbar Westside Reserves, and Wanborough United Reserves visiting Marlborough Town Reserves.
Both ties could well go into extra time. Cricklade and Dunbar Westside have been going quite well in the league recently, and Marlborough Town Reserves have just returned to winning ways, while Wanborough have been stringing together a few useful results.
Both ties will be decided on penalties should the scores be level after extra time.
In the Premier Division Wroughton and Stratton Crosslink both have a chance to make ground on the leaders Shrewton United. Crosslink are at home to Cricklade Town and Wroughton entertain Bradford Town.
Both managers are well aware that they have to keep winning to put pressure on the leaders and a victory could put them both just two points behind Shrewton.
At the other end of the table Chiseldon Castrol visit Pewsey Vale Reserves and the Swindon side could well come away with the points. Pewsey Vale's senior side has lost several useful players and are struggling in the Hellenic League and the knock-on effect will bound to be felt by the reserve outfit.
Intermediate section leaders Dunbar Westside visit Down Ampney and on the form book should come away with the three points. However, Ampney are capable of causing an upset if they are able to field one of their strongest sides.
Second-in-the-table Wanborough United are at home to Sherston and need to get a result to keep the leaders in their sights.
Top game in the Junior section is at Ballards Ash, where Wootton Bassett United take on league leaders Ferndale Rodbourne.
United are just five points behind the leaders in fifth place with three games in hand, and a victory could make them one of the favourites to lift the title.
Second-placed Wroughton Reserves visit Blunsdon United, who are better than their league position suggests but should still secure the points, and Aldbourne Reserves, who have been going through a purple patch, should consolidate third spot with a win over Sporting HKQ.
