THE Avon at Chippenham was in good form on Sunday for the Chippenham match.
Rob Bullock, of Chippenham, won with an all-chub catch weighing 19lb 4oz, taken on waggler-fished casters on an 18 hook.
Steve Palmer, of Chippenham, was second with a mixed bag of roach and skimmers weighing 15lb, taken on stick-floated punched bread on an 18 hook. He was followed by Mark Wooldridge, of Chippenham, with an all-roach catch weighing 10lb 12oz, taken on waggler-fished bronze maggots on an 18 hook.
Other placings: 4 Jason O'Dell, Wootton Bassett, 7lb; 5 John Wright, Calne, 4lb 4oz; 5 Paul Rice, Calne, 3lb 12oz.
Weights fell below their best in the Lavington match fished at Merritts Lake on Sunday but competitors still had some good sport.
Bob Gould, of Melksham, won with an all-carp catch weighing 41lb, taken on waggler-fished red maggots on an 18 hook.
John Hibberd, of Chippenham, took second place with a mixed catch of carp and roach weighing 19lb, taking his fish alternating with waggler fished red maggots and casters on an 18 hook.
He was followed by Graham Pearce, of Lavington, with another carp and roach catch weighing 18lb 14oz, taken on feeder and pole-fished red maggots on an 18 hook.
Other placings: 4 John Cooper, Lavington, 16lb; 5 Tony Amodio, Trowbridge, 13 lb; 6 Fred Eagles, Trowbridge, 11lb 12oz.
The Wilts Angling mid-week open match was fished at Witherington Farm on Wednesday where some good weights were taken.
Ian Willetts, of Bradford, with a mixed catch of carp, skimmers and tench weighing 57lb 2oz, taken on pole fished sweet corn on a 14 hook.
Runner-up was Geoff Matthews, of Trowbridge, with an all-carp catch weighing 49lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished sweet corn on a 14 hook.
Similar tactics gave third prize to Terry Gatty, of Melksham, with another carp catch weighing 44lb 8oz.
In form Ian Willetts kept up his great form to win the Bradford open match fished on Sunday at Barton Farm.
He took an all-roach catch weighing 16lb on stick floated casters on an 18 hook for a comfortable win.
Martin Barrett, of Trowbridge, was second and Kevin Grant, of Trowbridge, was third.
