RECYCLING is the only way to save the green fields for our childrens' children.
I write in response to Theo Godfrey's excellent letter and applaud him for his recycling efforts. We do the same and put out only one bag each week which isn't full, but I fear we are in the minority.
We stopped having a doorstep delivery of milk 15 months ago and joined the thousands who buy plastic containers of milk from the supermarket.
But Swindon doesn't provide recycling for plastics so it all goes into landfill!
Other counties seem to have got their act together and provide each household with plastic crates.
Then they can separate their cardboard, paper, tins and plastics from their other household rubbish and it is collected fortnightly from the council.
Three of these go-ahead councils are Sussex, Gloucestershire and of Leicestershire. So which will be next?
When is Swindon Borough Council going to bite the bullet and do its bit to save the planet while it is still there to save?
