A SWINDON man has been fined for buying fast food with a fake £10 note at last year's Southampton Boat Show.
Mark Bull, 24, got away once with buying a burger with a hooky note but was collared when he tried the scam a second time.
Southampton Crown Court heard how police found he had ten fake notes and when they later searched his home found another 28 under a cushion in his lounge. Adam Feest, mitigating, told the court Bull's act had been "selfish and stupid".
Feest added that Bull, a university graduate, got the money when he sold his car and intended to get rid of the notes bit by bit. Bull, of Birch Street, Swindon, had admitted two charges of having counterfeit money.
He was ordered to carry out a 200-hour community punishment order and pay a £500 fine.
