CORSHAM quite literally hit rock bottom following their 2-1 defeat at Clyst Rovers on Saturday 8 March.

The loss leaves the Southbankers propping up the First Division and in real danger of a return to Wiltshire League football.

Rob Speakman had put hosts Clyst ahead, before player-boss John Freegard headed an equaliser after neat work from Frankie Coleman.

But Gareth Laws' scrambled winner condemned Corsham to the ignominy of bottom spot.

Thankfully, just one point separates the bottom four, so Freegard's side can still save themselves.

But to add insult to injury, local rivals Calne continue to fly high at the other end of the table.

The Bremhill View outfit cantered to a 4-0 win against struggling Minehead.

Calne surged into a 3-0 lead within the first half-hour, with Matt Prattley opening the scoring on 10 minutes.

James Lye made it two direct from a corner and Andy Towers hit the third from another Lye set-piece.

Steve Davis completed the rout in the 86th minute.

Devizes failed to bounce back following last week's FA Vase elimination.

Pete Tripp's relegation-threatened troops were beaten 2-0 at home by Bath City Reserves in the Premier Division.

Simon Gilbert fired Bath in front before the break and Adrian Foster secured a deserved win for the visitors on 67 minutes.

Barnstaple and Welton the only two sides below Devizes in the table drew 1-1 to prevent Tripp's side slipping into the drop zone.

Elsewhere, Melksham Town were beaten 3-1 at Elmore.

Steve Blurton's brace sandwiched Matt Henry's strike to give Elmore a 3-0 lead.

Simon Price hit a late consolation for Robbie Lardner's sorry side who look set for another season of mid-table obscurity.

Corsham entertain Cadbury Heath in the First Division tonight. Kick-off is at 7.45pm.
