AS A 78-year-old cyclist, I fully endorse the comments of Clive Alexander (EA, March 4) about cycling and deplore the views of Coun Lister who should get on his bike.
He would find that the exercise would improve his health and might even convert him.
On the matter of speed bumbs, the whole reason for them is to improve safety by encouraging drivers to slow down. If they are ignored, of course drivers, bikers and their passengers will have a bumpy ride.
The humps at Lydiard Millicent are extremely effective in reducing vehicle speeds. When driving, I slow right down, ignoring impatient drivers behind me.
I imagine that there have been no road accidents in this village since the humps where installed.
