Despite their worst performance of the season, Chippenham Under 18s progressed into the semi-final of the Dorset & Wilts Cup at the expense of Swanage and Wareham, keeping alive the dream of a league and cup double.
A scrappy first half saw Merit Table winners Chippenham struggle to contain a very lively Swanage team who constantly had the visitors in trouble.
Despite this, Chippenham managed to take a 12-point lead with two well-worked tries.
The first came from No 8 Shane Johnstone and the second from prop Karl Parry, Gareth Wiltshire adding the conversion.
Swanage struck back after Chippenham needlessly tried to run the ball out of their own 22 to leave it 12-5 in the visitors' favour at half-time.
From the restart Swanage committed rugby suicide and Andy Flower intercepted to go under the posts for a converted try.
Another try from Flower appeared to have put the game out of reach of the home side at 26-5 but Swanage hit back with three tries to make it 26-20.
But Flower completed his hat-trick to spare Chippenham's blushes.
WOOTTON Bassett Colts prepared for their semi with Bournemouth by thumping Newbury 58-0.
Fly-half Daniel David opened the scoring and centre Stuart McInnes crossed soon afterwards.
Four more tries rained in before the half, with two short-range efforts from under 16 forwards Matt Hogg and Tom Fidler, a second from David and the pick of the scores from Duncan Fulling.
Second-half scores came from Duncan Fulling with another long range effort, back rower Tyler Barnes and left wing Oliver Gray.
Wing Daniel Cameron caught David's cross-field kick to complete the scoring.
