HORSE RACING: SHREWTON-based racehorse trainer Dr Jeremy Naylor landed a 14-1 winner in the Showcase Handicap race at Wincanton on Thursday.
Richard Thornton steered Indian Gunner home comfortably in the meeting's £12,000-added Wincanton PLC Chase to register another success for the highly respected Cleeve Stables boss.
Meanwhile, the Cheltenham Festival opened on Tuesday with mixed fortunes for Woodford Valley trainer Seamus Mullins.
The much-fancied Farmer Jack (7-1), trained at Mullins' Wilsford yard, was in contention for much of the opening day's Arkle Challenge. A poor jump three out effectively ended his challenge and he eventually finished fourth behind Azertyuiop, Impek and Isio.
Farmer Jack's stablemate See You Sometime was due to run at the Festival yesterday in the Coral Cup.
Horus, a winner at Larkhill point to point last year was another due to be in action at Cheltenham yesterday in the 53rd Mildmay of Flete Challenge Cup.
More than 190 horses have entered Saturday's eight-race New Forest Foxhounds point-to-point meeting at Larkhill.
