ANDY KING will wield the axe for Saturday's trip to Mansfield after watching his troops sleepwalk through a humiliating home defeat by Cheltenham Town.
The County Ground boss was furious after a dreadful 3-0 thumping by the Whaddon Road outfit and he has issued a stark warning to his 'sloppy' stars the season isn't over yet.
He said: "There will be changes for Saturday. Eric Sabin will start and David Duke will not be at right wing-back, although that's not to say he won't be in the side."
Defeat left Town still 10 points clear of the bottom four but, a gap not big enough for the manager to stop looking over his shoulder.
He said: "Maybe the sloppiness has come about because some of them feel we are safe.
"I don't feel that. I will be demanding urgency for Mansfield, urgency and passion.
"And I will select a team that I feel will give me those qualities.
"The players need to realise the season is not over. The play-offs may have gone but if a couple of bad results becomes a run, that gap between us and the bottom will shorten.
"The sooner they realise that the better.
"Had we won, it would have taken us to 49 points. At that stage I could have started to make plans and decisions.
"But we have 10 games to go and we still need at least two wins.
"It's a test for the players and let's see how they respond."
But the Town boss admitted he should have gone for the jugular last night by starting with three strikers against Bobby Gould's outfit.
He said: "I had two choices and I went with the wrong choice.
"I should have gone with the three strikers to start with.
"Obviously I had to then make that decision at half time, trailing 2-0.
"But then it's easy to be wise after the event."
The annual general meeting of the Swindon Town Supporters Trust takes place at the County Ground tonight (8pm).
The meeting will see the launch of a scheme to raise transfer funds for Andy King.
The Supporters Club is holding a race night at the same venue tomorrow evening.
