A WELSH rugby club choir brought the house down on Saturday with a concert to raise money for Malmesbury Rugby Club's youth team.
There were no seats left in the abbey for the performance by the Morriston RFC choir, which sang with Shirley Bassey on the theme for the last rugby world cup.
The male voice choir, which sang in both English and Welsh, was joined by Malmesbury-born soprano Helen Kucharek, accompanied by abbey organist John Hughes.
The choir performed for free and the concert raised almost £1,500 toward the £35,000 the club needs to upgrade its pitch at the Worthies and set up a youth rugby team.
After the concert, choir members piled down to the Smoking Dog pub and continued singing until the bus arrived to take them home.
