MALMESBURY School will be officially opened on May 2 by explorer David Hempleman-Adams.
The school moved from its split location site at Corn Gastons and Filands to the new £12.5 million building at Corn Gastons last Easter.
Headteacher Malcolm Trobe said the delay in the official opening ceremony was caused because parts of the building had not been handed over to the school yet.
He said: "Although the students moved into the building last Easter, the start of the summer term is the time at which all our facilities will have been handed over to the school."
Ofsted inspectors said this month that the building had a positive effect on all aspects of the school's work.
School governors will be inviting county councillors, local authority officers and representatives of the companies who have built the school to the opening ceremony.
