COUNTY FOOTBALL: WILTSHIRE U18s shone in front of the television cameras as they destroyed highly-fancied Guernsey in the South West Counties Championship.
Mel Gingell's reigning champions remain on course to finish as runners-up to Somerset in this year's competition following Saturday's impressive result.
The game was being filmed by BBC Guernsey and the home side are rated as the best the island has ever produced.
Guernsey gave a bumper crowd of more than 300 something to cheer when they took the lead, but Corsham Town youngster Russell Lodge equalised before the break.
Devizes Town's Marcus Wallen made an impressive debut for the county side and put them in front in the second half. Goals from Trowbridge Town duo Waled Bakali and Adam Nunn and Amesbury's Kevin Hughes completed the scoring.
Wiltshire boss Gingell was happy with his side's display.
He said: "We're well pleased with it. They had a big crowd over there and Guernsey say that's the best side they've ever had.
"They reached the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup, the same as us, and all I can think is that they must have had an off-day. That often happens with youth football."
Wiltshire end their campaign when they entertain Devon at Melksham Town on March 22, kick off 2.30pm.
Said Gingell: "We'll finish either second or third now. Somerset are nailed on to win it and beating us was enough for them."
